Diving is Coming Back to Christchurch

Exciting things are happening behind the scenes as preparations continue for diving to return to Christchurch for the first time in over a decade.

With the opening of Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre now in sight, Canterbury will soon be home to New Zealand’s newest and most advanced diving facility.

The dedicated dive pool, high boards and purpose-built dryland space will give tamariki, rangatahi and adults the chance to discover diving or return to a sport they’ve missed since the loss of QEII.

In partnership with Christchurch City Council, Canterbury Diving Community Trust is working hard to get everything ready, from lesson programmes and squad structures, to coach development and community partnerships.

It’s an exciting time, and this is only the beginning. We can’t wait to welcome our first divers, reconnect with families who were once part of the Christchurch diving community, and open the doors to a new generation of divers.
