What are Manu Sessions?

These sessions give tamariki and rangatahi the chance to build confidence, safety awareness, and real skills when jumping, flipping, and popping manus into the water – all in a fun, supervised environment with qualified coaches.

Manu Sessions are about helping young people enjoy the water the way Kiwi kids always have, off pool edges, wharfs, platforms, and riverbanks – while learning how to do it with better technique and more confidence. We know jumping and manu are already part of how many kids play around water, so our goal is to support that in a positive way rather than shut it down.

At the sessions, participants get to try new things at their own pace, from simple jumps to higher boards and basic flips, with coaches on hand to guide them. It’s about building skills, having a laugh with mates, and learning how to make good choices so the fun stays safe.

Whether someone has never done a manu before or already loves sending it, these sessions are a great place to give it a go, pick up new tricks, and feel more confident in the water, and all for free*.
